This online racing wheel test helps you check whether the browser detects the steering axis, pedals, buttons and gear shifter correctly. Connect the wheel directly to the computer before opening the test. If the device has PC and console modes, select the mode recommended by its manufacturer, then press any button once so the browser can recognize the controller.
A working wheel should report continuous steering movement across the available axis. Sudden jumps, a value that sticks near one side, or an unstable center may indicate an incorrect calibration, an oversized dead zone, a driver conflict or wear in the steering sensor. A small variation around the center can be normal, but repeated movement without touching the wheel is a sign of jitter or axis drift.
Accelerator, brake and clutch pedals are usually analog controls. Their values should change gradually from released to fully pressed. If a pedal reaches only part of its range, reacts too early or remains slightly pressed after release, recalibrate the pedal set and inspect its cable or potentiometer. Buttons and gear positions should activate once per press and must not remain stuck after release.
The browser may expose controls in a different order on different models. That does not necessarily mean the wheel is faulty: compare the response of each physical control rather than relying only on a button number.
First close games, launchers and controller-mapping utilities that may capture the device. Reconnect the USB cable, avoid an unpowered hub and reload the page. Press a wheel button after the page opens; browsers may hide a controller until the user interacts with it. If the wheel has several compatibility modes, try the manufacturer’s PC mode and confirm that the correct driver and firmware are installed.
When the operating system sees the wheel but the browser does not, test it in an up-to-date version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Disable virtual-controller software temporarily and check the system’s controller panel. If the axes or pedals are combined incorrectly, open the manufacturer’s control panel, restore the default mapping and calibrate the device again.
Wireless adapters, console-only accessories and proprietary shifters may not expose every control through the browser. In that case, connect the accessory through the wheel base or use the manufacturer’s diagnostic utility.
The Gamepad API represents steering and pedals as axes and buttons. Axis values are normally reported on a scale from −1 to 1, while analog buttons use values from 0 to 1. The browser and operating system decide how the physical controls are mapped, so names and positions can differ between Logitech, Thrustmaster, Fanatec, HORI and other devices.
This test is suitable for checking input, centering, range and visible signal stability. It cannot reliably measure torque, force-feedback strength, belt or gear noise, mechanical play, temperature, or the real resistance of a load-cell brake. It also does not change the firmware, driver calibration or game settings. Confirm final steering angle, dead zones, pedal curves and force feedback in the wheel driver and in the game you plan to use.
