How Do I Test a Graphics Tablet?

Connect the tablet. If your model requires a driver, install or enable the manufacturer’s driver.
Click “Start test” and move the pen across the active area.
Draw slow straight and diagonal lines through the centre, corners, and edges. Lines should remain continuous and follow the pen without jumps.
Vary the force and angle of the pen. The “Pressure” and “Tilt” values should change if the device supports them.
If the pen has a rear eraser, turn it over and check that the mode changes to “erasing”.

How to Read the Test Results?

Pointer type should be “pen” when the browser recognises the stylus correctly.
Pressure ranges from 0 to 1 and should change with force. In this test, stronger pressure makes the line less transparent.
Tilt X / Tilt Y show the pen angle on two axes from −90° to 90°. Not all pens support tilt.
Twist shows rotation around the pen axis. This is a rare hardware feature that most pens do not support.
Mode switches between drawing and erasing when a supported rear eraser is used.
Continuous lines without gaps, sudden jumps, or inactive areas indicate stable pen tracking.

What If Pressure or Tilt Is Not Detected?

If pressure remains at 0 or 0.5, check that the pointer type is “pen”, enable the tablet driver or Windows Ink, and try another browser.
If tilt or rotation remains at 0, the pen, driver, operating system, or browser may not support that value. This does not always indicate a fault.
If the pointer type is “mouse”, the system is not exposing the stylus as a pen. Reconnect the tablet and check its driver settings.
For gaps or jumps, reconnect the tablet, try another USB port or cable, and compare the result with the manufacturer’s driver test and another drawing app.

Compatible Tablets and Browsers

The test works with Wacom, Huion, XP-Pen, Gaomon, and other pen tablets, pen displays, and stylus-enabled devices that expose pen data through Pointer Events. Available values depend on the tablet, pen, driver, operating system, and browser. No separate drawing app is required, but some tablets still require a manufacturer driver.
